Kate Winslet makes it a double Golden Globe Awards Win!

Kate Winslet to put it mildly is on a major roll at the moment winning two Golden Globe Awards one for Best Actress for her role in “Revolutionary Road” and also one for Best Supporting Actress in the film “The Reader”. What makes the best actress award even more significant is she beat the likes of Meryl Streep and Angelina Jolie, both incredibly talented actresses , which makes this award even more significant and gives it even greater credibility.

Important developments for this lady as this event and the Critics Choice Awards held days previously are very good indicators or barometers of the general vibe in the movie industry in award terms and what could probably be winning the gongs at the Oscars. An Oscar Award has eluded Kate Winslet but things are looking very promising for that trend to be broken with the current odds being 4-6 Favourite for Kate to win the Best Actress Award.

This was also a night for the Brits who cleaned up at the awards winning 15 out of the possible 25 with Danny Boyle and his film SlumDog Millionaire picking up four major gongs and also Sally Hawkins for Best Actress Musical or Comedy in the film Happy Go Lucky. Freida Pinto and Dev Patel who play the lead roles in the film SlumDog Millionaire also attended the event and received the awards with Danny Boyle.

The acceptance speech of the night has to go again to Kate Winslet who was overcome with emotion and a part of the speech which we would politely say here she “put her foot in it” just a little bit, but when has there ever been a good award acceptance speech, Marion Cotillard last year was more extreme emotions and the list goes on Excerpt we have below:

She said she had a “habit of not winning things” and with the surprise of winning she made a heartfelt apology  to the other nominees Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Kristin Scott Thomas and Angelina Jolie the words were “I’m so sorry Anne, Meryl, Kristin….oh god, who’s the other one”………….long think …..”Angelina”.  At that moment the camera did zoom in on Angelina but the look was calm and understanding as Angelina knows what it’s like to be up there at that moment. A classic moment and speech none the less from Kate and we will reserve our judgement on that one……Bless Her!
