A superb finish to the year by Serena Williams, she has proved that supreme world class talent conquers all……in the end!

Serena beat her sister Venus at the WTA Championships final held in Doha, Quatar. Final score was 6-2, 7-6, (7-4) . The final took 84 minutes and Venus was the defeneding champion for the event but obviously happier to keep the championship trophy in the family.

Serena consequently ends the year as the WTA World No1 overtaking Russia’s Dinara Safina to claim the title.

There’s been controversy throughout the season about Dinara Safina being No1 and Serena Williams being No2 with many saying the points system seems to  penalise brilliant players, but Serena has proven in the end, points system or not, if you’re that good there’s only one place to be and that is World No1 and there is nos stopping that one!
