The 2009 Q awards were held last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. In what turned out to be mainly a lads night for the awards including the new acts and those that are a bit more classic, some of the girls did come up trumps and some stole the show without even winning any awards (no prizes for guessing who) and more on that in the next post.

Lily Allen in awards terms headed the girls list in our opinion, winning an award for her No1 Single “The Fear”. This was Lily’s first ever music award, she’s had many nominations but just never manages to clinch it, always the bridesmaid and never the bride you could say.
The 2009 Q Awards changed all that last night though and she was brought to tears and said in her acceptance speech. “This is so important to me because I have never won an award for my music before. I’m really pleased – so thank you to everyone who voted for me.
She added some shock or not so shocking news depending on how much in the know you are. She announced:
“I’ve run out of things to write about, so i’m going to focus on something else. I am setting up a record label!”
She may want to get in touch with Lindsay Lohan who’s currently “on hold” with her record company (see previos post) or maybe not!
Other girls that won awards included Lady GaGa for Best Video and the Q Icon award went to Marianne Faithfull.
The awards were presented by comedian Al Murray of The Pub Landlord fame and true to form he presented the show whilst downing a few pints.
