Mischa Barton admitted to psychiatric hospital!

Mischa Barton the London born actress is hitting the headlines as she has been admitted to psychiatric hopsital from her home in LA and the reasons surrounding this admittance are a complete mystery with her publicist confirming theÂ headlines but no further information as to the reason why has been released, due to the sensitive nature of the admittance.

Her publicist Craig Schnider has been quoted as saying:

“Barton had been “safely transferred” to hospital where she will remain under doctor’s orders.Â ”

The LA Times have released a huge article on this with an analysis on suspected reasons to this hospitalisation, and the first paragraph reads as below:

This week (wednesday) Mischa Barton was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center under an involuntary psychiatric hold (also known as a 5150) by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Under Californian law, authorities can hold a person under section 5150 if they present a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or suffer from a mental disorder. This codeÂ is the same one that had Britney spears hospitalised last year.Â

Her weight has fluctuated violently in recent months and she is still on 3 year probation from Dec 2007 after driving under the influence and possessing marijuana. She is famous for her role in the hit drama OCÂ where she played Marissa Cooper, but since that role has finished she has had a troubled life.

Barton’s new film Homecoming opened in the US on Friday.

Some sources are quoting she could be released today but at present this is looking not to be the case!
