The 63rd Annual Tony Awards were held on Sunday night, June 7 at Radio City Music Hall, New York and this is a big event on the awards calendar attracting the more mature stars and honours those involved in the theatre including dramatics and musicals and is an event for the thespians.

Stars that attended the event included Jane Fonda, Elton John and James Gandolfini of Sopranos fame along with Anne Hathaway, Dolly Parton and Liza Minnelli. The guest list is below and makes heavy reading.

French playwright Yasmina Reza was the star of the show in sheer award terms triumphed at the annual Tony awards ceremony as she won the best play of the year prize for an American adaptation of her “God of Carnage.” which one in total 3 awards at the event.

The best actress award went to Marcia Gay Harden (top photo) who appeared in “God of Carnage”. Matthew Warchus won a Tony for best theater director, while the best play trophy was awarded to Yasmina Reza. The musical comedy “Billy Elliott,” managed a Tony gong for best theater directing.
The whole event was broadcast live to a new pedestrian area in the famous Times Square right in the center of Manhattan Island. Liza Minnelli pictured below.
