Britney Spears and Her First London Performance. What the papers had to say!

Britney Spears performed live last night at the London o2 Arena in front of a sell out audience. The name of her current tour and album is called “Circus” and the London 02 Arena is probably the most appropriate venue on the whole world tour as it is in effect a giant marquee tent!

Photo below was taken Mar 24 at Nassau but this costume also appeared asÂ part of the London gig performance last night.

We were not at the event, so are unable to pass judgement on her performance in that respect, but the Brit Papers and tabloids were there and the verdict was out today in force and they all had strong opinions, not all leaning in the same direction, you could say a critical mixed bag was the media verdict.

All unedited headlines, we tell it as it is here, but a lot, it has to be said, does not make good reading at all!
Our views on this are quite complex as we do back her up here on this site regardless and we have a lot of respect for her otherwise she would not be Female Celebrity of the Month for June and a second time at that. Her comeback has been tremendous, the speed at which it happened, album, single releases and then the Circus World Tour close behind was at a frightening pace. We think, along with a lot of other people that maybe it was a bit too fast. So much so that the girl behind Britney Spears may not have caught up with this rapid move back “into the spotlight”, there’s a certain something missing here from the old Britney, the “heart” call it what you will,Â and its coming across in a lot of these headlines, but thats just our theory and we don’t know this lady personally.

We don’t doubt the energy and preperation that she has put into the making of these performances, that is there in abundance, its the passion in delivering all that practice of routines, that from what we are hearing, seems to be missing! Could it be she is a mum now, she loves and misses her kids, that could be the difference……………….who knows!

Delving deeper, there’s two kinds of live performance and we’ve all seen them.

No1 is when the star in question turns up, attends a live event, does the performance, they do the routines, sing the songs and well, then walk off stage with a couple of encores as a bonus and give a wave goodbye!

No2 is when the star in question performs at an event, their heart and soul is in that performance you can feel it,Â theyÂ involve the audience and whip them into a frenzy very early into the proceedings, which means communicating with them,Â they sing the songs well and move around the stage with an energy that the audience can pick up on,Â the star Â does notÂ want to leave that stage, the audience doesn’t want you to leave, and encores are a given with the crowd never wanting to let you go, and its a performance you’ll never forget and the audience remembers for the rest of their lives.

From what we have read in the media and reading between the lines Britney and her performance last night was firmly in the No1 category, all bells and whistles and visually stunning but something missing from the lady herself! No amount of special effects, props and tricks and back up choreography can compensate for that fact and audiences do pick up on this!

This is a positive site and we do not go down the negative road unless absolutely necessary and in this case it was. So to end on an upbeat note the general SP from the all important fans who were at the event is an almighty thumbs up….but then would they say otherwise!

She’s got another 7 nights at the o2 Arena in London, as she is in residency at this venue, it will be interesting to see what headlines come out over the coming days. On a different note of the “spotting” variety, she’s a fan of Top Shop apparently the same as Miley Cyrus, she’ll be heading there at some stage, thats a given, it will be the one in Oxford Street as that is THE store, we know this, celebrity bloggers and the media know this, and the paps know this. Unfortunately she knows all this as well! Any spottings in London and those shots if available will be here, she’s the foxÂ but then she’s outnumbered by many more foxesÂ as in the paps, we know where are money is!!
