Day 9 at the French Open has produced some predictable results and also a surprise or two with Sorana Cirstea being the headline grabber of the day. Sorana Cirstea of Romania celebrated a surprise victory during the Women’s Singles Fourth Round match against Jelena Jankovic the former world No.1 of Serbia on day nine of the French Open where Cirstea  came from a set down to defeat Jelena Jankovic, the No.5 seed , 3-6 6-0 9-7. Cirstea is now through to the quarter finals. The look below says it all!

Other matches played included Serena Williams, the No.2 seed who beat Aleksandra Wozniak convinicingly 6-1, 6-2 , and Samantha Stosur beat  Virginie Razzano to get through to the next round, while Svetlana Kuznetsova edged out Agnieszka Radwanska in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.

Williams World No2 (photo above)  is looking good for the finals in this event and Dinara Safina (photo below) also is on fine form and current World No1, she is also looking finals material. Maria Sharapova the comeback Queen and former World No1 is also another one to watch, she is playing very well considering her long time away from the game, if she doesn’t make it beyond the quarter finals, Wimbledon is now not far away and she is looking on fine form for this event.  Sorana Cirstea with her capability of unseating the World No5 Jankovic, could prove to be the wild card of the tournament.
