The 62nd Cannes Film Festival got underway on Wednesday 13 May and will be running until 24 May. A bit of an A List magnet and a major event in the film industry calendar, this in film circles is regarded by most as the biggest film festival. It’s in effect a film festival and film competition with the prestigious Palm D’Or award going to the Best Film and Best director amongst other categories which will be announced on May 24.
Needless to say the winner of this award will have film distributors stretching as far as the eye can see in most cases to showcase the film in the real commerical world. Directors at this years festival include Quentin Tarantino, Ang Lee and Pedro Almodovar and Jane Campion, Ken Loach, Michael Haneke and Park Chan-wook. Strong Euro presence at this particular Cannes Festival, a light American presence and a quite bit of a showing from the Asian Countries.

Located in London, UK with a keen interest in the female celebrity world with a massive interest in movies and photography. Current favourite movie is an older one called Fight Club starring Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter. A bit on the edge and a boundary pusher thinking just that bit outside the box. Has a strong message which can vary from person to person, and has some clever subliminal layering that may be missed on the first viewing......A Classic!
