Demi Lovato, a mere 16 years of age, a singer and actress that has appeared on Disney’s “Camp Rock”  and you could say a competitor to the likes of Miley Cyrus and Gabriella Cilmi has a new single out called “Don’t Forget”. Strangely enough she recently appeared at the Hannah Montana: The Movie premiere. Everything is Miley Cyrus at the moment, we thought we would have a look and see what this young lady is doing musically and put her under the griller!

Premiere Of Walt Disney Pictures Hannah Montana The Movie - Arrivals

“Don’t Forget” is a very slow number with a bit of a surprise somewhere in the song, more on that later. According to her official website it was premiered there on 17 March and a Deluxe Version was released on 31 March. This song is taken off the album by the same name that was released September last year.

The Verdict.

Bit of a miserable beginning, rain, long faces, dark and dreary backdrop, all a bit depressing, its all part of the song we know and essential to the lyrics.  About a minute into the song  we are “so so” and “take it or leave it” it just sounds a bit thin, although it is original which is a very big plus here, Demi Lovato is a looker for sure, and vocally she is very good, and superb on those very hard to do fragile notes that can throw even the best singers off course, she just needs some more instrumental backing here in our opinion.

It was looking like a very neutral rating though on this song despite her quality vocals and its different sound, we were looking for a bit more power or oomph from somewhere as otherwise this number just lacks something. That was until 2 minutes and 18 seconds when its suddenly “whats going on here” out come the guitars (we love) plenty of thrashing and pace, wet hair tossing, oodles of attitude,  and our rating is starting to move skywards, our air guitar is firmly out and being given a good seeing too, and plenty of prancing around the room like a maniac doing some severe head bashing!

We think if she would have added a bit more thrash in places, say the chorus on this song it would have made the quieter stretches stand out, and the thrashy stretches would fly in contrast. Just our view, our rating either way up from an initial 3 stars to a Rating of 3 and half stars out of 5 with no plus signs on the end. Crocodile tears at the end swung it for us……….Awwwwww.  Chart wise haven’t got a clue how this will do.

In our opinion, of the recent releases this week, Pink and “Please Don’t leave Me” is setting the standard, priceless video it really is, out of this world beat the living daylights out of the guitar rift, the guitar alone we would rate as a solid 4 and half stars without question,  and is a tough one to beat technically with pink “On Song” vocally, and impressed us here! But that is “only our opinion”.
