Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were in town last night for the UK Premiere of “Twilight” held at Leicester Square, London and there was a big turnout. This wasn’t a red carpet event, it was a black carpet one, and a nice and different touch for this vampire love story premiere.

Kristen Stewart also appeared on the BBC Breakfast along with the director Catherine Hardwicke. Kristen Stewart comes across as a bit of a dark horse, mysterious and deep, and we could see why she was picked for the lead role in this film. An actress to keep an eye on, she’s only 18, has appeared in 15 films already, and if this is a success, which it looks it will be, who knows what lies ahead for her.
Twilight stars on the sofa Interview
Loads of coverage of the event and after the event in the form of video’s, interview, photo’s and more. Twilight is aimed at the teen market as it is essentially a teen romance but it’s suitable for all ages. From the trailer and further clips we’ve managed to view (not for general release) this does look to be a decent film and ousted Quantum of Solace out of the top slot in the States and is due for launch here in the UK on 19 December and is predicted to be the box office No1 over Christmas. Judging by the turnout they could be right!

This is a fantasy film as some of the scenes taken literally are ridiculous, but films like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings you could say the same thing, but they are both superb films and Twilight should be viewed in that light. As with all films that are novel based, the book will always outshine the film, you just can’t get all the books details into a 2 hour time slot not even 3 and trying to get the original authors feel and creativity into film format again is difficult. Stephen King fans (webmaster included) will know this all too well, with many of the film versions good, but the book’s were always vastly superior and scarier.

“Twilight” UK Premiere – Outside Arrivals
This film touches some strange and interesting topics such as love between essentially different “species” and the complications that this creates, and also the subject of immortality………………is it all it’s cracked up to be, and given the choice do you really want to live forever. From the material seen this is a different take on vampires and a refreshing one from the usual old style crosses, garlic and coffins pallava of old. It’s modern, fresh, intense and brooding and thought provoking with enough reasonable depth to stretch the brain cells a bit with reasonable acting . Ratings wise we think this looks better than say a film like “Four Christmases” which is an also ran, but not as good as say “Changeling” which we rated as 4 stars. Our rating 3 and half stars out 5 (trailer and clip based) and definetly worth a look, but if you’ve read the book, this film will probably fall a bit short. Anne Rice and her vampire books is another case in point! Still essential viewing for “Twilight” fans none the less. As with all our film reviews if it contains more than a passing paragraph and a video thrown in for good measure, then this is something that we have considered worth taking time to look at in more depth, and it is not something we are in the habit of doing with mediocre material.
Twilight premiere fans scream for Robert Pattinson
Film Details:
Twilight is a romantic-fantasy film directed by Catherine Hardwicke and based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer. The film stars Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, a teenage girl, who falls in love with vampire Edward Cullen, as played by Robert Pattinson. The project was in development for approximately three years at Paramount Pictures before it was put into pre-production by Summit Entertainment. The novel was adapted for the screen by Melissa Rosenberg in the autumn of 2007, shortly before the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike. The film was primarily shot in Washington and Oregon during the winter and spring of 2008. Twilight was released in US theaters on November 21, 2008, and grossed $35.7 million on its opening day. The soundtrack was released on November 4, 2008.
Plot:
Seventeen-year-old Bella Swan moves to the small town of Forks, Washington, to live with her father, Charlie. There, she finds herself drawn to a mysterious classmate, Edward Cullen, who is revealed to be a 108-year-old vampire, but is physically seventeen years old. Although Edward discourages the romance at first, they soon fall deeply in love. When the arrival of three nomadic vampires, James, Victoria, and Laurent, puts Bella’s life in danger, Edward and his family, Alice, Carlisle, Esme, Jasper, Emmett and Rosalie, put their lives at stake to save her.

Current favourite movie is an older one called Fight Club starring Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter. A bit on the edge and a boundary pusher thinking just that bit outside the box.
